With Gun Safety Laws in the Balance, CeaseFirePA PAC Endorses Heather Boyd in PA House Special Election
Delaware County, PA — Today, CeaseFirePA PAC, the Commonwealth’s leading gun violence prevention organization, announced their endorsement of candidate Heather Boyd for the May 16th Special Election for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. CeaseFirePA PAC is making a significant financial investment in the race.
Heather Boyd in the 163rd House District earned this endorsement by demonstrating a commitment to support life-saving gun violence prevention legislation and continued investments in community violence intervention programs in Harrisburg.
“Life-saving laws hang in the balance on May 16th. Heather is the clear choice for voters who want to feel safe and be safe while walking in their neighborhood, shopping at the grocery store, and attending school,” said Adam Garber, CeaseFirePA PAC Executive Director. “In the first months of the new legislative session, the Judiciary Committee has heard the voices of survivors of gun violence, doctors who stitch bullet holes, and law enforcement who know the dangers illegal trafficking poses to their community. Now they’re ready to act–but it could all come to a halt if Heather Boyd is not elected on May 16th. I urge all voters in the 163rd House District who care about safer communities to cast their ballot for this gun safety champion.”
He added that voters who are registered independents are allowed to vote in May’s special election, urging them to come to the polls.
This endorsement decision was exclusively based on candidate responses to a brief questionnaire about their support for various gun violence prevention policies. Completion of the questionnaire was a prerequisite for endorsement. All major party candidates in the May 16, 2023 PA House Special Election were invited to complete the questionnaire.
